At this years summer academy we will unfold the concept of food from four different perspectives –
THE HISTORICAL, THE SOCIAL, THE SENSUOUS and THE POLITICAL.
We will unfold the topic of food from perspectives that provide a variety of insights into our relation to food.
As we put together this year’s program, the world is in motion. Climate change, the biodiversity crisis and increasing inequality are challenges that we are faced with today. At the summer academy we will engage with the changing world and its challenges, through the topic of food. Our everyday life is centered around food – one way or the other. Whether you live in Denmark, Japan or Venezuela, food remains an indispensable part of human life, and that makes it a great tool for understanding the world and creating change. In the course of the week, you will meet people and organizations that have opinions and knowledge on how we use, produce and engage with food. Together we will try to get a sense of interesting alternatives to how we relate to food in society, politically and hands-on when we eat it. It will enable us to imagine interesting and possibly more appealing futures, and inspire us to engage with a world that calls for action and involvement.
This summer you get another chance to join the summer academy in Lolland-Falster for an educational and enjoyable week of ‘højskole’ in good company and beautiful surroundings. The group behind the project of establishing a folk high school in Lolland-Falster will repeat the last years success and invite people from across the world to participate in an international summer academy.
